Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper until well combined.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
- Pour in the milk and mix gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.
- Using a spoon or a cookie scoop, drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
- While the biscuits are baking, combine the melted butter, dried parsley, and garlic powder in a small bowl.
- Once the biscuits are done, remove them from the oven and brush the tops with the garlic butter mixture.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- For a cheesy twist, try adding crumbled cooked bacon or diced jalapeños to the dough.
- For a lighter version, substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour.
