Description

Cheddar Bay Biscuits are delicious, cheesy, and easy to make, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper until well combined.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
  5. Pour in the milk and mix gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.
  6. Using a spoon or a cookie scoop, drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
  8. While the biscuits are baking, combine the melted butter, dried parsley, and garlic powder in a small bowl.
  9. Once the biscuits are done, remove them from the oven and brush the tops with the garlic butter mixture.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a cheesy twist, try adding crumbled cooked bacon or diced jalapeños to the dough.
  • For a lighter version, substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour.
