- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup assorted vegetables (bell peppers, red onion, mushrooms, zucchini), diced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar. In a separate small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture. Stir until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness and transfer it to a greased pizza pan or baking sheet.
- Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then evenly distribute the diced vegetables on top.
- Season with oregano, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Slice and serve.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add sliced jalapeños or crushed red pepper flakes on top before baking.
- You can substitute the mozzarella cheese with a dairy-free alternative for a vegan option.
