Description
A delicious and easy recipe for Greek-Style Meatballs served with a refreshing Tzatziki Sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef or lamb
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cucumber, grated and excess water squeezed out
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef or lamb, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, onion, garlic, egg, oregano, salt, black pepper, cumin, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until just combined.
- Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and browned.
- While the meatballs are baking, prepare the tzatziki sauce. In a medium bowl, mix together Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Once the meatballs are done, serve them warm with a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce on the side.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider adding some chopped mint to the meatball mixture.
- Serve the meatballs with warm pita bread for a complete meal.
- For a lighter option, you can substitute ground turkey for the beef or lamb.
