Description

A flavorful and spicy dish made with marinated chicken, perfect as an appetizer or main course.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon rice flour
  • 2 teaspoons red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, cumin powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a marinade.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best flavor.
  3. After marinating, add cornstarch and rice flour to the chicken mixture. Mix until the chicken is evenly coated.
  4. In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  5. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the marinated chicken pieces in batches, frying until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per batch.
  6. Remove the chicken with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  7. Sprinkle with lemon juice and garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.

Notes

  • For a milder version, reduce the amount of red chili powder.
  • Try adding a tablespoon of curry leaves to the oil while frying for an authentic flavor.
