- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch square baking pan.
- Spread the thawed hash browns evenly in the baking pan and press down gently.
- In a skillet, cook the sausage and diced onion over medium heat for about 10 minutes until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Whisk together eggs and milk in a large bowl; add onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the hash browns and sprinkle with half of the cheese.
- Layer the cooked sausage and onion mixture on top, then add the remaining cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour. Remove foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes until golden.
- Let the casserole cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
